Snow Day

After ice and snow, we ventured out to see how Mary Ellen liked it. When she first experienced snow almost a year ago, she cried. Today, though, it was a completely different venture. She loved it! We actually went out twice today.

Before going out, though, she asked her daddy to do her hair. As you can see, she is now wearing all of the bows that I have made for her in the last few days!

Even though snow was technically our new thing for the day, we also worked on making cocoa rice krispies treat. Someone had given us a box, and it was messy to eat by itself. It was sticky venture! I am not sure if Mary Ellen liked it, but we are enjoying the treats!

Week-in- Review -Monday

This week, I have begun a new challenge. A friend of mine suggested trying something new with our children every day. It can be something little, but when you are home all day, it is easy to do the same things over and over again. I have begun collecting items and started an area that I can pull things out of. I didn't quite succeed in doing something new everyday, but as you will see, we had a really good week. I got pictures from every day, except Wednesday. We have started going to a group called MOPS then, where Mary Ellen can play and I can meet with other moms. By the time, she woke up from her nap, we were off to church, so no new activity.

On Monday, we spend the dad at Caki and Bo's house, as they were having a construction project done. It wasn't anything new, but it felt new for Mary Ellen as she explored her old stomping ground. She even came up with a few new things to play with.


I told her we were going to Caki and Bo's house. She said, "Woo-hoo!"

Tuesday - Play Doh

The new activity today was Play Doh. When I got it out, Mary Ellen kept saying, "WOW!" She is so much fun when there is something new, because she gets so excited. She started out barely touching it and just putting it back in the containers, but by the end, she learned to smash it out and played with it for over 30 minutes. She only put it in her mouth once, and that taste was enough to stop her. It was a fun thing that we will get out again after we have worked our way through some of our other new activities.

Thursday - Card Making

The day began with playing with Caroline at her house and ended with helping Daddy make a fire. In between, the new project of the day was making a special birthday card with foam stickers. Mary Ellen loves stickers, but she hadn't used the foam stickers yet. She got into it, and especially liked coloring too!



The girls wanted to play in the chair together. Of course, I couldn't get a good picture, because the tv was on, and they kept watching that!

Friday - Cookie making

Today it is icy outside and still coming down. Daddy is home, so there has been a lot of excitement. The big new project of the day is making cookies. I got the already pre done Valentine's cookie, but let Mary Ellen add sprinkles. She went through the whole bottle, and absolutely loved it. She also started the day with styling her own hair!




Starting out, she didn't know what to think! But, she started to get into it.

Look at the mess. It took me longer to clean up the kitchen afterwords than actually making the cookies!

This and that continues

The fun continues daily in watching Mary Ellen. She amazes us with what she figures out, and we are constantly laughing as she shows us something very cute, or just off the wall! It is amazing the things that she comes up with and how she figures certain things out.

Mary Ellen loves stickers. But, most of all she likes putting them on Mommy or Daddy. For some reason, she found that Daddy's feet were the location of choice this weekend!

This and That

We have just been playing and hanging out these past few days. As you can see, Mary Ellen is liking her hair in pigtails. She looks at me, and says, "Hair?" It used to be that she said, "Hair bow," because that was all we could do with her hair. Some days, I do a better job than others, but it also depends on how still my model is that day!

Having a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch for the first time. Not sure if she really liked it considering, she asked for cheese. She did find that she could take it apart and lick the jelly. I think that she liked that part more!
