Halloween fun

It is the season of a lot of different things going. This week, we had a hayride at MOPS and Mary Ellen got to dress-up for school. There is still more going on this weekend, where I am sure that we will have more to share with everyone after much more fun!

Mary Ellen really liked the pumpkin craft that I did at MOPS. She has been admiring it, and as you can see here, when I went to take a picture, she wanted to give it a hug.


For her school party, they were suppose to dress up like cowboys and cowgirls. We did our best to get some pictures, but from these you can get an idea of the complete outfit with pink cowboy boots and everything. After she got dressed this morning, she went around the house going, "YeeHaw!"





Looks like she is just about ready to say, "Howdy, partner!"

Daddy's Birthday

Birthdays are very exciting time in our house. Whenever we have one birthday celebration, Mary Ellen immediately asks who is next. She has been talking about Daddy's birthday for two weeks. Every morning, she would ask if it was daddy's birthday party. Paul's birthday isn't until the 18th, but we celebrated last night, and it made Mary Ellen's day to know that it was time for Daddy's birthday party! She helped with preparations and was geared up to go to it all day long. I think that everyone had a great time, including the birthday boy, but especially Mary Ellen! It doesn't matter that it isn't her party, because she has fun and turns it into her party!

When Daddy opened his new Kentucky jersey, Mary Ellen rushed back to her room to get her shirt, so she could match Daddy. It is definitely not the right color and team for me, but it was cute to see how much she wanted to be able to match her daddy!


We have to have party hats anytime we celebrate a birthday. Mary Ellen was passing them out to everyone!


And of course, it isn't complete without blowing out the candles and always having help from Mary Ellen.

The 2010 Fair

When we went to the fair this year, we had fun, but it wasn't the best of days to go. October has been a really hot month, and the day we went was no exception. And, we got there before the rides opened. Luckily, you could get in and look around, but when we started out looking at the animals, Mary Ellen was scared of them. She wanted to go on the Merry-go-round and didn't understand that it wasn't open yet. The funny thing was that when we got to the merry-go-round, she acted like she didn't want to do it, but once she got on it she was happy. It was the only ride that she rode, and she just seemed like it got too hot for her, which I would agree with!

When we were waiting for things to open, we ended up right where they were bringing the Monster trucks in. From a distance, Mary Ellen thought that they were really neat, but as they got close and louder, they actually scared her. She definitely likes things a lot more from a distance than up close and personal!


She loved this fish display. I think that she would have stayed there for hours.


She realized real quickly that she did like the Merry-go-round!


Every time she went around, she would wave to me!


And of course, the fair wouldn't be complete without a funnel cake. Once we found a place to sit in the shade and got some food, Mary Ellen started to perk up a little. But, we decided that it was time to call it day, and hope that next year, the weather for the fair is a little cooler and we wait until it actually opens to go to it!

Pleasant Ridge

Mary Ellen loves going to Pleasant Ridge. Yes, it is a shopping center, but to her, it is a big play area. We went to get her haircut, which whenever you get her haircut, she asks for a sucker and to ride in the airplane. We started out there, and then went to see the "waterfall." When we went this day, she found the games sitting out on the table, so Mary Ellen and Daddy "played" chess.






Along with all of this, she enjoys riding up and down and the escalator at Belk. This day, since we didn't have much else to do, we went up and down it many times. Mary Ellen didn't even want to leave, when it was time. She loved every bit of it!

Pumpkin Patch

We had a great time going to the pumpkin patch on Saturday with friends. Mary Ellen enjoyed seeing Caroline, Emily, Rosemary, Lane, and Levi. There was no way to get a picture of all of them together, as they each had their own thing that they were fascinated with. Everyone was running in different directions, but enjoying every minute of it. Mary Ellen got to pick a pumpkin, see pig races, go down the slide, swing a lot, and ride the hayride. She also loved being able to ride in the wagon that was provided and enjoying some popcorn a long the way. She is still talking about the pigs racing and loves being able to look at the pumpkin that she picked out.

Fayetteville trip

We went to Fayetteville this weekend with Caki, Uncle Tyler, and Aunt Rayni. We were able to get an early start on celebrating Caki's birthday, which Mary Ellen loved. Every time we sat down at the table to eat, Mary Ellen would sing "Happy Birthday to Caki!" We didn't do much other than enjoying our time with Granny and Aunt Connie, as this will be our last trip to Fayetteville with just having one little girl!





Mary Ellen really enjoyed playing in Caki's new Razorback Snuggie! She would put it on and call herself the queen!

Veggie Tales Live

Last week, we went to Silly Songs by Veggie Tales. It was Mary Ellen's first concert! She loved singing, dancing, and clapping along with Bob, Larry, and all of the other veggies. It was a great show that we all loved, and Mary Ellen still talks about dancing and singing with them!
