One day when we got home from school, we found this dog in our front yard. She was very friendly and came right up to us when we got out of the car. I found her tag and tried to call her owners. They weren't home, so we put her in the backyard until we heard from them. Molly let Mary Ellen pet her and play with her. Mary Ellen would go into the sunroom and check on her, and it was the first thing she asked about when she got up from her nap. She was able to say goodbye to Molly before her owner came to get her!

First Day of Preschool
Today was Mary Ellen's first day of preschool, and she was so excited. She has been hesitant about it, when we talked about it, but yesterday, we went for an open house, so she got to see her classroom and meet her teachers. She got to play and see what she would be doing, so she was ready this morning. When she got up and I said something about going to school, she said, "Let's go!" As soon as she got ready, she was ready for me to take her picture!

When we got to school, we put up her backpack, she went in her classroom, and she was ready to play! There was no trouble with leaving her, and all of her teachers said that she had a great day! I am so proud of my little girl and excited for her new adventure!

Final SPLAT
SPLAT has come to an end for the summer. But, not without going out with a bang! We had two inflatables for the kids (and adults) to enjoy - a Jungle they could bounce in and a great big slide. It was a very hot day, but it didn't seem to phase the kids at all. Mary Ellen had a blast!

Testing the waters in the Jungle!

Once she got to the top of the slide, she was ready to go!

Having some fun with Daddy!

Hot and sweaty, but having a lot of fun!

Riding the dinosaur

Watermelons!
Mary Ellen loves watermelon, and especially loved being able to crawl all over these big ones! When Daddy returned from Kentucky, he came bearing homegrown watermelons from Great-Granddaddy. What a treat! Mary Ellen is already enjoying eating it, and we had a little fun taking her picture with them. She also thought that they made good drums!

Happy Birthday, Jack!
We got to help Jack celebrate his first birthday this past weekend! Mary Ellen loves Jack, and loves getting to see him. She wanted to follow him around! She especially enjoyed the cupcakes!

My attempt to get the two of them together, but Mary Ellen was people watching, and Jack was exploring!

And Mary Ellen has found a new love of taking pictures with my camera. Usually, I have to delete most of them, because it is her finger over the lens. But, she was actually right at the level of where the action was happening as far as opening presents, so she got a few good ones of what was going on, like this one:

Talking on the phone
Daddy is out of town this week, so Mary Ellen has gotten into talking on the phone to him. Every time the phone rings, she thinks that it is Daddy, and she is ready to talk! As you can see, she looks really comfortable with the phone. I think that we have a long road ahead of us as she turns into a teenager!

Visit to Fayetteville
We went to Fayetteville this past weekend to visit Granny, Connie, and Susie. We had a great time with Susie at the Farmer's Market, and Mary Ellen spent some time with Granny and Connie, while Mommy and Caki went to a wedding. We were having so much fun that we forgot to take the camera out until Sunday after church.
