Turtle Rescue

While Paul was mowing today, he found a turtle in the backyard. Mary Ellen was very excited to see it, and thought that we needed to feed it. We gave it some grass and put it in a box, so she could see it a little closer, but then decided to return it to its home - the creek close to our house. She loves Diego, so I guess we were our own animal rescuers right here at our house! Go, Mary Ellen, Go!

When Paul took the turtle out of the box right there by here, she was a little hesitant about it!

I have never seen a turtle take off so fast. It really didn't have the fear that you think about in turtles. When it started walking on the concrete, Mary Ellen walked by side it helping it know where to go!

What a week!

I am behind in getting pictures on here, so this is the week in review. With so much going on it, it is hard to keep up with all, and also get Mary Ellen to sit or stand still long enough to take a picture. But, I do have some from the week to capture what we have had going on.

Sunday night, we had a church picnic. We were very lucky in that the weather cooled off, and actually no one wanted to leave, until we could no longer see anything to clean up! Mary Ellen enjoyed playing and helping her daddy with horse shoes and baggo! She also found her own ways to play each of these games too!

On Thursday, it was t-shirt day at school, but most importantly Grandparent's Day! Caki and Bo both got to come and see Mary Ellen's classroom and meet her teachers. She was very excited to show them the toys and what she likes to do at school.

Friday was Bo's birthday, and we had a great time celebrating. We decided to use one of Mary Ellen's new favorite character for the theme of the celebration - Diego! We had party hats and everything. Mary Ellen is still playing with her party hat and gets very upset when the string breaks. Luckily, a little tape can rescue it! We had a lot of fun, but the night did end with Mary Ellen having one of her first major falls. She somehow tripped and fell into the car and has a bruised nose. She has definitely been a trooper about it!

This morning, Mary Ellen was eating one of her favorites of frozen blueberries. When she got done eating, it looked like war paint across her face, paired with the bruised nose from her fall on Friday night!

And football begins!

With football beginning, we celebrated early Saturday morning, with our new Razorback dress. She also had to show her spirit with the leis! She was running around the house having so much fun!

Her daddy decided that she needed another accessory to go with the outfit!

We may have a confused child one of these days! We will just have to see!

Such good friends!

We had the joy of having Caroline spend a lot of the day with us on Friday. Mary Ellen loved it from the first minute, when she realized that Caroline would be riding in her car seat next to her. Caroline was a great trooper, even running errands with us to check out furniture stores. Whenever Mary Ellen would go to test out a chair at a store, Caroline loved tagging along and trying it out herself. We did make a stop at Chick-fil-a, so the girls could play, enjoy some lunch, and ice cream!

When they got up from their naps, they were ready to play again. We even got to play outside, because the weather has been cooler. For some reason, though, Mary Ellen had insisted on sleeping without her shirt on and played that way until we went outside!

When we ventured out the second time, we decided to try out the new double stroller. They loved it and shared their love with each other!

New baby dolls, because ...

Mary Ellen has given up her pacis! She was only using them to sleep, but we knew that it was time to make the transition. Mommy "lost" them, and she slept through her first nap great! There was a little uneasiness at bed time last night, but I let her pick a stuffed animal out of a basket that has been hidden, so it was her special treat. I told her she could go pick out a special prize in the morning if she slept well. She did get up a little earlier than normal, but I never heard from her during the night. Today for her nap, she asked about them, but she got in bed with her new baby dolls. The only downfall for Mommy is that nap time was extremely short. We are continuing it with rest time on the couch and watching tv. I hope that she will adjust back to the sleeping in a few days!
